The North Fond du Lac football team played as tough against Laconia’s high-powered running game as anyone has this season — for one half.
Laconia’s Cody Moon proved to be too much in the Spartans’ 21-7 win on Friday.
Moon finished with 221 rushing yards on 25 attempts and touchdown runs of 4 and 67 yards in the third quarter and 51 yards in the fourth.
Colton Catt recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Orioles’ only score.
“To be perfectly honest, in the first half we played phenomenally,” said North Fondy coach Zac Ruch. “First half we did a nice job. They made some adjustments, then [Moon] started to wear us down.”
Ross Schwartz ran for 65 yards on 25 attempts for North Fondy (1-6, 1-5), which ends its season next Friday at Mayville.
Laconia improves to 6-1 overall, 5-1 in the Flyway and hosts KML for its final regular season game.
