* Coach: Charlie Fields, Jr. (second season).
* Conference: Hoosier Hills.
* Last season: 1-9 (lost 56-7 to Castle in first round of 5-A sectional)
* Outlook: As a young team last season, the Bulldogs faced quite a challenge going up against powerhouses Columbus East and Castle. The secondary is improved, and overall the defense has the benefit of continuing the same scheme. “When we played (quarterback Gunner) Kiel of Columbus East, we had three sophomores playing back there (in the secondary),” Fields said. “If you can live through that experience, it’s going to make you better, and it did.”
Michael Diehl’s athleticism and accuracy is a big plus for the offense, which suffers losses at receiver but retains its powerful ground attack. Diehl rushed for over 700 yards last season. “He’s done everything we’ve asked of him,” Fields said. “We’re happy with the progress he’s made. He’s definitely a runner, a threat in our running game, and that’s something we take advantage of.”
