The New Holstein High School volleyball team took second place at the Omro tournament on Saturday.
The Huskies beat Denmark in two games, beat Freedom, and then Wild Rose in two straight sets.
In the championship, Weyauwega-Freemont won 26-24, 21-25, 15-9.
Tara Zipperer led New Holstein with 33 kills, while Tori Zipperer added 16. Allieson Mirsberger had 49 digs for the defense, and Tristen Guelig served nine aces.
Sun Prairie Invite
Waupun went 6-4 over two days of play to place fifth.
Friday, the Warriors (10-8) defeated Luxemburg-Casco and DeForest. Saturday Waupun defeated Fond du Lac, Greendale, DePere and DeForest.
Emilee Wiersma led the team with 71 kills and 18 blocks. Blake Buchholz added 55 kills and led in digs with 44. Kelsey Thompson killed 37 points for Waupun, had 37 digs and seven aces.
Wisconsin Rapids Invite
Laconia swept host Wisconsin Rapids, Colby and Rib Lake, but dropped matches to Appleton East, Abbotsford, Fox Valley Lutheran and Antigo.
Morgan Gunnink had 33 kills and Alex Wegner had 32, while Haley Smith started the offense with 87 assists. Defensively, Cassie Isaac was buys leading the Spartans with 78 digs.
Laconia coach Troy Pluim said his team’s play was too inconsistent for his liking, but they’ll be back on the court for a nonconference match against Ripon on Tuesday.
