THE WINNER: Tyler Rouse
School: C.W. Baker (Baldwinsville, N.Y.)
Position: Running back
Weight: 200 pounds
Athletic achievement: He rushed for 2,977 yards and 45 touchdowns on 333 carries this past season, leading the Bees (8-2) to the Class AA Section 3 final. A two-time All-State selection, Rouse topped 200 yards rushing in every game and ran for over 350 yards three times. He finished his prep career with 6,841 yards rushing, the fourth-highest total in state history.
Academic excellence: Rouse has maintained a B-plus average in the classroom.
Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of a youth football league and an assisted living facility.
“Rouse plays hard from whistle to whistle,” said David Kline, head coach at Henninger (Syracuse, N.Y.). “His numbers speak for themselves, but his ability to put his team on his back and carry it is amazing.”
THE FUTURE: Rouse remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
