The Generals beat Butler County 3-2 and the Cincinnati Cyclones 4-2 to reach the final of the Butler County Tournament.

Gabe Parini’s hat trick helped Newark (10-4-3) beat the Redhawks in the first game. Alex O’Neill, Ben Dennis, Cole Jaquith and Chase Cherubini all had assists. Charlie Smart had 14 saves in goal.

Against the Cyclones, goaltender Austin Pitcock had 22 saves for the Generals. Parini had two goals, with Dennis and O’Neill each netting one. Gus Goomas and Ben Baldwin had one assist each.

Newark will play the Jackson Polar Bears in a rematch of the 2012 state club championship at 12:30 p.m. today.
