Oakland boys golf team edges Riverdale by two

The Oakland boy’s golf team edged Riverdale on Tuesday, defeating the Warriors 328-330.

Austin Pfeifer and Austen Burt led the way for the Patriots as each shot an 81. Cole Clear fired a 76 and Jackson Jones an 80 for Riverdale.

Barrron Corley led the Cougars with a 42, followed by Trey Lashlee (43), Ian Harper (45), Ben Brown (48), Joe Warner (51) and Ian Gregory (58).

Jordan Reynolds led the Tigers with a 39 at Champions Run, followed by T.C. Hayes (40), Colton Miller (42) and Austin Tipton (44). In girls individual play, Central’s Abbey Burgdorf shot an even-par 36 and Lexi Marshall fired a 41.

Blackman got goals from Megan Woods, Courtney Guile, Lindsey Williams and Kayla Reynolds.

The Lady Patriots tied their season opener on a penalty kick by Brianna Sears. Lindsey Rose scored two goals for Oakland.

Sierra Franz had three goals, Sierra Hefner had two, and Kristin Wattenbarger and Haley Head scored one each in the Lady Bulldogs season opener.

MTCS opened up the season with a district victory. Freshman Ashlynd Wilkerson scored two goals and Erin Jennings had one. Emily Brandon had two assist Kat Byrd had one. Danielle White had four saves in goal.

The Lady Patriots defeated Lipscomb 23-25, 25-23, 15-11. Katie Arnette had seven kills and five aces, Taylor Harrell had eight kills, Annie Loats had three kills and Chandler Lee had 10 digs.

Against BGA, Oakland won the first game 25-23 before falling 14-25, 5-15. Arnette had four kills and four digs, Harrell had three kills and four digs, Loats had four kills, Lee had six digs and Natalie Peay had three kills.

The Lady Warriors (2-0) defeated the Bears 25-21, 22-25, 24-26, 25-20, 20-18 to improve to 2 – 0 on the season.

Kristen Inman had 41 assists, Ashleigh Lozier had 18 kills, Abby Shaw had 12 kills and Kenia Azor had 10. Dakyla Wells had four blocks and Kenia Azor had three. Jenna Goodman had 22 digs, Shaw had 16 and Lozier had 15. Inmen led Riverdale with four aces, while Beth Sullivan and Goodman had two each. The Riverdale JV were also victorious winning 2- 0 and improving to 2 – 0 on the season.

Blackman 3, Cookeville 0

The Lady Blaze won their season opener on the road. Katherine Darnell had three aces.

The Patriots improved to 2-0 on the season. Rico Jones scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter to cap off a 68-yard drive. Devante Harris scored on a 63-yard end around, and Jones ran the two-point conversion to provide the final margin of victory.

Rock Springs 32, Siegel 0

Johnny Waters rushed for two touchdowns, and Shyre Robinson had an interception return for a touchdown for Rock Springs, which improved to 2-0.
