Oakland won its second consecutive Doris Coady Rutherford County Swimming Invitational Championships this year.

And it is Oakland that dominates The DNJ’s 2012 All-Area Swimming Team. The school put five individuals on the first team and five relays.

Freshman Eli Leskinen and junior Lainey Massaro lead the team. The two were named The DNJ’s male and female swimmers of the year.

Leskinen was the county champion in the 100-yard backstroke and placed 15th at the state meet. He was 18th in the 100 freestyle. Leskinen was also on two first-team relays. He joined Trent Rogers, Carson Perry and Seth Waldecker to place 11th at state in the 200 free relay. He joined Hank Massaro, Waldecker and Rogers to place 12th at state in the 200 medley.

Lainey Massaro finished 11th at state in the 100 breaststroke and 15th at state in the 200 IM. She was the county champion in the 500 freestyle. Masssaro was also part of two Oakland relays that made the first team.

She is joined on the 200 free relay team by Jessica Rose, Meredith Boylan and Ashley Roland. The relay placed 22nd at state in the event. Massaro was on the 200 medley relay with Hannah Tribble, Jordan Yasso and Roland in the 200 medley that won the county championship.

Roland also is on the team for her efforts in the 50 freestyle. She was the county champion and placed 44th at state in the event.

Hank Massaro is also on the first team for his efforts in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. Hank Massaro placed 19th in the staqte in the 100 breaststroke and was 24th in the state in the 200 IM.

Rogers was on the first team on the 50 free. He was runner-up in the county in the event and was 32nd at the state meet.
