A pin by sophomore Costa Poniros in the 113-pound bout started a six-bout, 28-point run as the host Ocean wrestling team defeated Wall, 46-24, on Wednesday night in a Shore Conference Class B North match.
Andrew MacNellie (132) had a pin during the run and Orion Rovegno won by technical fall during the run.
Also Zach Hertling, the state third-place finisher at 120 last year, defeated Dan Kinsella, the District 23 second-place finisher at 126 last season, 4-3, in a 138-pound bout.

LONG BRANCH 53, MATAWAN 12: An 11-1 win by Jake George over Chris Hartigan in the 160-pound bout keyed the No. 5 Green Wave (1-0, 1-0) to the win over the Huskies (0-1, 0-1) in a Class B North match.
George was the Region VI runner-up at 152 last season. Hartigan is a two-time District 21 placewinner.
MANALAPAN 54, COLTS NECK 12: The Braves (1-0, 1-0) rolled over the Cougars (0-1, 0-1) in Class A North.
At 132, Manalapan’s Chris Baran downed Austin Maltez, 7-5. At 138, Grant Palpin bested Dylan Campbell, 11-3. At 145, Mike Aronson put Ryan Carl to the mat in 3:11. The rout continued at 152 where Ed Chandler bested Zacharia Hasan, 16-4.
Jake Kaminsky pinned Connor McDonnell in 2:45 at 160. Steven Chandler won, 8-2, over William Hoffbauer at 170. The streak put the Braves in front, 26-0.
SHORE 42, KEANSBURG 27: Freshman Justin Valerio bumped up one weight class to 120 and, in the second match of his career, headlocked his opponent to help the Blue Devils (2-0, 2-0) to a Class B Central win over the Titans (1-0, 0-1).
Valerio felled Matthew Acevedo in 1:28. Shore’s Danny Welsh (113) bumped up one weight class to avenge last year’s loss to Anthony Aziz. Shore seniors Dylan Vieira, Andrew Smith and Dan Baillie helped the Blue Devils to wins in three of their last four matches to seal the victory.
Shore freshmen Tim Klemser and Alex Johnson came off the mat with critical pins.
Welsh felled Aziz 6-4. Vieira (160) pressed Nick Schifano in 5:32. Smith (182) downed Brandon Nelan 2-1. Baillie (195) disposed of Ben Pezanetti in 50 seconds.
Klemser (106) pinned Aziel Rosado in 4:30. Johnson (132) pinned Nic Vloyantes in 1:07.
BRICK 46, FREEHOLD TWP. 12: Anthony Dzugan (220) and Dan Wojtaszek (182) both pinned to highlight the No. 10 Green Dragons win over the Patriots (0-2) in a nondivisional match.

COLTS NECK 52, RED BANK 44: Junior forward Lindsay Bosland’s 16 points led the Cougars past the Bucs in nondivisional action.
RANNEY 42, WASHBURN 28: Grace Wilgucki scored 10 points to power the Panthers to a nondivisonal win.

ST. JOHN VIANNEY 47, RED BANK 33: Junior guard Vinny Facchino netted 11 points to propel the Lancers past the Bucs (0-3, 0-2) in nondivisional action.

For Shore, Pat Thormann took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:27.40. Luke Dwyer won the 100 freestyle in 1:08.73. Robbie Greenburg won the 100 backstroke in 1:13.28. Mark Massaro won the 100 breaststroke in 1:32.13
Ranney’s Charlie Sabaitis won the 100 butterfly in 1:07.49 and the 200 individual medley in 2:29.85.

RB CATHOLIC 106, MANASQUAN 64: Jackie VanLew swam to a first-place finish in the 200 freestlye with a time of 1:58.36 to lead the Caseys (3-0) over the Warriors (4-1) in this Class A Central clash. Manasquan’s Caroline Petrone recorded a pair of victories in 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke with marks of 24.96 and 1:01.37, respectively.
SHORE 89, RANNEY 78: Shore freshman Helen Grossman swam to a pair of first-place finishes in the 50 freestlye (27.35) and 100 butterfly (1:05.22) events as the Blue Devils (2-1) defeated the Panthers in this nondivisional matchup. Ranney freshman Kate Crilly also captured a pair of individual victories in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke events with times of 2:38.13 and 1:31.24, respectively.
