Osei scores winner for Indians

Senior striker Benji Osei scored a late winner in the 79th minute leading the Toms River South boys soccer team over Monsignor Donovan 3-2 in a nondivisional game on Saturday.

The Indians (1-1) who were with the wind in the second half, bombarded Griffin goalie Paul Kelly with shot after shot. Kelly kept his team in the game for most of the second half, but could not stop Osei’s shot from about six yards out with 20 seconds left in regulation.

The Griffins (1-1) took a 2-1 lead in the first half after a goal from Jake Maxwell. However, the game was quickly tied two minutes later on a set piece from Vinny Ignatowicz. Ignatowicz bent the ball from about 20 yards out around the wall to the far post to make it 2-2 late in the first half.
