Oshkosh West made the most of its opening tournament.
The Wildcats dropped only one set in eight matches and collected three wins on Saturday to claim the championships at the UW-Stout Sprawl.
“We played tough all day. We did not let up at all,” West coach Trisha Neveau said. “I didn’t know what to expect today, but we were just so focused.”
West won all six of his sets on Saturday in easy fashion, allowing just one opponent to score more than 16 points.
The Wildcats opened with a 25-16 win over Mosinee and then beat Stoughton 25-10, 25-22. West capped off the tournament with a 25-16, 25-14 win over Stevens Point.
Senior Allie Rueger was named to the All-Tournament Team and led the Wildcats in kills (30), blocks (11) and aces (5) on the day.
“Allie really put the ball away a lot of the times,” Neveau said. “This was a total team effort today. There was just a energy to us all day.”
Lourdes Academy wrapped up its tournament action at Stout by winning its final three matches on Saturday to finish 4-5 for the two-day event.
The Knights lost a close match to Lakeland to start the day, but rattled off wins over Ellsworth, Cadott and Somerset.
Jessica Roberts paced the Knights with 32 kills on Saturday, while Hunter Godfroy finished with 19. Kelley Hollmaier added 81 assists and six aces.
