This past weekend’s winter storms pushed back the finish of the Ohio University-Zanesville Freshmen Holiday Basketball tournament at Tri-Valley High School.
The boys large-school division championship game will highlight today’s action as Tri-Valley takes on Mount Vernon, which is coached by former Tri-Valley girls head coach Paul Highnam.
The girls championship between Lancaster and Mount Vernon will tip at 3:30 p.m. Other games today include Marietta-Teays Valley girls at 10:45 a.m., Marietta-Philo boys at noon, Tri-Valley-Licking Valley girls at 1 p.m. and West Muskingum-Monroe Central boys at 1:15 p.m. Meadowbrook-Licking Valley will play a semifinal in the boys small-school division at 2:15 p.m.; Amanda-Clearcreek-Monroe Central girls will play a semifinal at 2:30 p.m.; and consolation games in the old gym are Gahanna Lincoln-Newark girls at 3:45 p.m. and Sheridan-Lancaster boys at 5 p.m.
The small-school championships and consolation games will be played on Wednesday.
At 7 p.m., the boys championship game will feature Morgan versus the winner of Licking Valley and Meadowbrook.
The loser will play Utica boys in the consolation game at 3:45 p.m. Ridgewood will play in the girls championship at 5 p.m. against the winner of Amanda-Clearcreek and Monroe Central. The loser will play Morgan’s girls at 6:15 p.m. in the consolation game.
Admission is $3 per day for an adult.
