CAMBRIDGE — Lauren Paul displayed the form that makes her dangerous at this time of year Saturday.
The West Muskingum junior ran 19:44 to place second in the large school girls division at the Cambridge Cross Country Invitational.
Paul was behind champion Mackenzie Butler of Licking Valley, who won in 19:41.
The Lady Tornadoes were fifth in the team race with 122 points. Madison Paul placed 12th (21:15), Shelby Hewitt 23rd (22:17), Sarah Hargus 54th (24:16) and Sarah Scott 60th (24:34) for their scoring.
Dana Dale came in 18th (21:51) to lead Maysville, and Zanesville’s Jessica Savage was 41st (23:38) as neither competed in the team race.
Woody Jamiel was fifth (17:24) and Zac Klies 16th (18:31) for John Glenn, which did not field a team, to highlight area runners in the boys large school division.
Zanesville was sixth as Andrew Hoffman placed 17th (18:33), Matt Sturgill 23rd (18:47) and Zach Antonetz 40th (19:25); Conner Wright came in eighth (17:52) and Brett Potts 38th (19:19) for Maysville, which was 10th, and West Muskingum, which didn’t field a team, was led by Ryan Burkhart (43rd, 19:32) and Justin Huey (49th, 19:57).
