Pennfield now No. 2 in AP football poll

A 47-7 victory in Week 4 over Delton Kellogg was enough to convince the Michigan Associated Press to move Pennfield up one spot in its prep football poll this week.

Pennfield jumped up to the No. 2 ranking in the Division 4 poll thanks to its 4-0 record this season. The Panthers will look to stay perfect when they host Maple Valley on Friday in a Kalamazoo Valley Association clash.

Union City remained a top-10 team following its 33-18 victory over Athens in the ‘Little Brown Jug’ game. The Chargers are ranked No. 7 in the Division 7 poll. Union City will visit Springport on Friday for a Big Eight Conference contest.

Climax-Scotts also stayed undefeated with its 41-0 shutout win over North Adams-Jerome, helping the Panthers hold on to the No. 6 ranking in Division 8. C-S will be on the road Friday, visiting Camden Frontier in SCAA action.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association has determined playoff qualifiers in eight divisions based on enrollment. The divisions in the AP football poll are unofficial.
