Pennfield will head into the playoffs with some momentum after improving to 8-1 and earning the No. 5 ranking in Division 4.

The Panthers moved up two spots in the Michigan Associated Press prep football poll thanks to their 19-7 victory over Constantine. Pennfield will host Three Rivers (6-3) in the first round of districts, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.

Union City improved to 6-3 and clinched a postseason berth thanks to its 38-20 win over East Jackson. The Chargers remained honorable mention in Division 7, and will play at Pewamo-Westphalia (6-3) in the first round on Friday.

Despite finishing a perfect season at 9-0 with a 41-19 win over Colon, Climax-Scotts dropped two spots to No. 10 in the Division 8 poll. The Panthers will host St. Joseph Lake Michigan Catholic (7-1) on Friday.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association has determined playoff qualifiers in eight divisions based on enrollment. The divisions in the poll are unofficial.
