Pittsford freshman Katie Smith finished first in both the 50-yard freestyle and and 100 freestyle with state qualifying times during the Section Class A swimming preliminaries Thursday at Webster Aquatic Center.
Smith’s time in the 50 (23.59 seconds) was good for All-America consideration. She won the 100 in 52.06.
Emily Martin also placed first in a pair of events with state-qualifying times. The Penfield senior won the 200 freestyle (1:55.84) and 100 butterfly (59.6).

NYS-state meet qualifying time
Olean-VI 17-25-25-25, Midlakes 25-13-15-19
CeCe Cordero recorded 19 kills and six aces to pace Midlakes (17-6).
Anna Coryell dished out 35 assists and Allison Maloney chipped in nine kills and two blocks for the Screaming Eagles, who led by as many as 12 in the first game before Olean came back in the next three.
Trailing by seven in the fourth game, Midlakes rallied to within 21-19, but a side out and three more points sealed the match.
Lauren Deming finished with eight kills and Emily Boudreau added nine digs to lead Waterloo (17-5).
Madison Coriale chipped in 15 assists.
Senior Ryenn Smith totaled 18 kills and nine digs to lead Lyons (22-0) to its sixth state quarterfinal appearance in the last eight years.
Abigail Shields finished with nine kills and seven digs and Taylor DiSanto added 33 assists for Lyons, which got a six-point serving stretch to open a big lead in the second game.
Kelsey Cornish had 14 kills and two aces for Honeoye (21-1).
