Zach Hooker scored late in the second overtime Tuesday to lift Poudre High School’s boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Greeley Central in a nonconference match at French Field.
Hooker scored in the 89th minute, with the assist going to Francisoc Hernandez.
Eduardo Hernandez scored in the 63rd minute to tie the game 1-1. Hector Rodriguez picked up that assist.
“Our players did extremely well in the second half to attack with more purpose and to take advantage of Greeley Central’s gaps and space on the outsides,” Poudre coach Erik Eckoff said. “I’m proud of our players who showed their tenacity and fight all the way throughout the game.”
HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 3, CAMPION ACADEMY 2 — Matthew McGinley scored three goals, including the game’s final two, to lift the Eagles to the victory.
McGinley’s final two goals came in the 68th and 73rd minutes to erase a 2-1 deficit. He also scored in the first half in the 12th minute.
Ryan Hurley picked up a pair of assists for Heritage Christian.
FORT COLLINS 170.75, LOVELAND 160.175 — Marley Hesser and Erica Pollack helped the Lambkins opened the season with a dual meet victory over the Indians.
Pollack placed in the top three in all four individual events and Hesser did the same in three.
Pollack was second in the all-around with a 36.225 and Hesser was third at 34.235.
Loveland’s Claire Hammen won all four events and the all-around with an impressive score of 38.85.
HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 3, CAMPION ACADEMY 0 — The Eagles opened their season with a sweep, 25-19, 25-18, 25-10.
Hailey Smith had 10 aces and Heidi Friedrich added six kills and five aces for Heritage Christian.
