Sheboygan Falls’ baseball team improved to 10-2 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Tuesday with a narrow 2-1 win over Kewaskum.
Nate Heili threw all seven innings for the Falcons, giving up just two hits and two walks while striking out nine Indians batters.
Heili complemented his pitching stats with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Ryan Halverson went 1-for-3 and drove in both Falls runs.
The win keeps Falls close behind Kewaskum (11-2) in the EWC standings. Plymouth is tied with Falls at 10-2.
New Holstein 8, Campbellsport 5
The Huskies exploded for six runs in the top of the fifth inning and improve to 4-10 in the EWC.
Chris Greuel popped a two-run single to right field in the top of the fifth to spark the Huskies’ offense. He finished the game with a team-best three RBI after batting in another run in the sixth inning.
Greuel and two other Huskies — Adam Schmitz and Brady Schmitz — each finished the game with two hits to lead New Holstein on offense.
Dominic Probst pitched all seven innings on the mound to register the win. He gave up six hits, five runs (three of them earned) and notched five strikeouts.
Two Rivers 5, Kiel 2
Two Rivers had only three hits, but timed them just right.
Two Rivers used all thee hits to key a five-run fourth inning and take the EWC win.
Two Rivers’ Brett Kasper frustrated Kiel’s batters from the mound. He pitched all seven innings, giving up just five hits and one earned run.
Late Monday Ozaukee 13-15, Elkhart Lake 3-5
Ozaukee’s offense dominated in a doubleheader sweep.
Owen Miller went 3-for-5 to lead Ozaukee’s bats in the Game 1 win. Miller also picked up the win on the mound.
Four Warriors batters had multiple hits to lead Ozaukee in Game 2.
G.B. Shockers 6, Sheboygan 0
Post 83 could muster only four hits in the home loss.
Justin Smith took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Brady Callahan, Tyler VanCalligan, Austin Gruenke and Garrett Rivest each had hits for Sheboygan.
