Prep basketball Formidable Four: Rough start to week for boys teams

By

So far this week things haven’t been running smoothly for many of the eight local boys basketball programs.

While Two Rivers and Roncalli each earned wins on Tuesday, the other six schools suffered losses. As it stands, four Manitowoc County schools are below the .500 mark with one at .500.

Manitowoc Lutheran, which entered the week 3-1, fell to Roncalli 79-39 on Tuesday and is at risk of dropping to .500 when they face off with visiting Mishicot on Friday.

Two Rivers, the area’s only team at .500, hosts New Holstein tonight and could move above .500 for the first time this season, or fall back to below .500 — where it had been the entire season prior to Tuesday’s 61-43 home win over Luxemburg-Casco.

Valders and Roncalli are the only area team entering their final games this week without danger of falling to or below .500 — Roncalli hosts Wrightstown on Friday, Valders is at Brillion on Friday.

Only two local girls basketball teams played on Tuesday night, so the records of Manitowoc County’s girls basketball teams for the most part are the same entering tonight’s games as they were to start the week.

Two of tonight’s matchups feature area teams facing off — Mishicot at Roncalli and Reedsville at Manitowoc Lutheran.
