The Manitowoc Lincoln boys basketball team’s late rally against Sun Prairie at the Sun Prairie Tournament fell just short in a 78-71 loss on Thursday night.
The Ships trailed 25-8 after the first quarter and 51-22 at halftime, but Austin Mecca and Kyle Hoffman led a second-half charge that put Lincoln back in the game.
Mecca finished with a team-high 29 points as he was 13-of-15 from the free-throw line while Hoffman made five of Lincoln’s six 3-pointers to finish with 23 points.
The Ships were 23-of-28 from the free-throw line to Sun Prairie’s 13-of-19 performance. Sun Prairie made seven 3-pointers in the game.
