The Roncalli boys basketball team made 17 3-pointers en route to a 74-33 road win over St. Mary Central on Friday night.
Nate Lassila opened the game for Roncalli with a 3-pointer on the Jets’ first posession of the game and they would not trail the rest of the way.
Leading 20-9 after the first quarter, Isaiah Bessert heated up and finished the first half with six 3-pointers to make it 37-16 at halftime. The Jets had 11 3-pointers in the first half.
Despite being shown several defensive schemes, Roncalli committed just four turnovers in the game and led 50-22 entering the fourth quarter. The Jets forced St. Mary Central to commit 20 turnovers.
Nick Stelzer had a team-high eight 3-pointers while Bessert was held without a 3-pointer in the second half. Stelzer finished with a game-high 24 points while Bessert added 18. The pair were the Jets’ only double-digit scorers while no St. Mary Central player reached double figures.
Roncalli (8-1, 6-1 Olympian Conference) will now have 13 days off as it next hosts Valders on Jan. 3.
