EAST LANSING — Phoenix Washington finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists to lead four Eastern players in double figures as the Quakers topped East Lansing 55-50 in CAAC Blue boys basketball on Friday night.

Dar’Relle Welch scored 11 points and had eight rebounds, and Brian Morton Jr. and Eliyah Yahsha finished with 11 points each for Eastern (2-1, 1-1).

Javon Haines led all scorers with 17 points and Akil Mitchell added 13 points for the Trojans (1-3, 1-1).

As has been the case for much of the early season, it was senior Nathan Lafayette who led the way for the Chiefs. The senior had a team-high 22 points and 15 rebounds in the victory.

Senior Peter Nichols finished with 18 points for the Chiefs, including a 3-pointer to begin the game.
