Prep boys soccer: TR's Greene was area's most consistent scorer

A great striker usually averages one goal per game. Two Rivers senior Cameron Greene averaged nearly two.

Greene, the Herald Times Reporter All-Area Boys Soccer Athlete of the Year, scored goals at a torrid pace during the season, finishing with an Eastern Wisconsin Conference-high 43 goals in 24 games. That total earned him first-team All-EWC honors as well as All-State “Best of the Rest” honors.

“Even officials would come up to me and say how impressive Cam’s play was,” said Two Rivers coach David Anschutz. “They’d just be amazed at the show he was putting on.”

The Raiders, led by Greene, reached the WIAA Division 2 boys soccer sectional semi-final before losing to Green Bay Notre Dame 3-1.

A big leap came for Greene this season was when Anschutz told him to start using his right leg more in the attack.

“Defenses would always key in on his left,” added Anschutz. “I simply told him it wasn’t illegal to score with his right boot.”
