ALBANY – Austin Soare’s 1-yard run with 8.5 seconds left was the difference for Becker in a 28-22 Granite Ridge Conference win over Albany.

Down 14-0 in the second quarter, Aaron Eiynck returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown and Scott Litchy added a 2-yard touchdown run before halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, the teams traded touchdowns and 2-point conversion in fourth to knot the game at 22.

Albany turned the ball over on downs at midfield with two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Becker (5-0 GRC, 5-0 overall) drove 50 yards to punch in the winning score.

Eric Dudek had 61 yards and Brett Watercott caught four passes for 69 yards for Becker. Nick Mergen led the Albany (3-2, 3-2) rushing attack with 80 yards on 22 carries.

PRINCETON – Bryan Bowar rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns, but Princeton defeated St. Cloud Cathedral.

Jeff Fasching completed a 33-yard touchdown pass to Brian Minks to bring Cathedral (1-2 GRC, 2-3 overall) within a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Fasching finished with 211 passing yards.

Zach Ludwig led Princeton with 80 rushing yards and 144 passing yards.

ZIMMERMAN – Foley head coach Larry Herm said his Falcons played their best overall game of the season to beat Zimmerman.

“It’s the best game we’ve played, probably overall as a team in every facet,” Herm said. “We have some things to clean up, but we played well defensively, stopped their option and handled ourselves well with their passing game …

“It was a very good road win.”

SARTELL – Senior running back Walker Heinen led the way for Fergus Falls with a 252-yard performance on the ground to help the Otters stay undefeated in Central Lakes Conference play.

With the score tied at 28, a late 12-play, 63-yard drive in the game’s closing minutes capped by a 6-yard Heinen TD run gave Fergus Falls (4-0, 4-1) the lead and the win.

Darek Stachowski had 13 carries for 91 yards and a TD for the Sabres (3-1, 4-1). Patrick Fischer had seven catches for 148 yards with a TD for the Sabres. Sartell quarterback Parker Hagen was 13 of 22 passing for 254 yards with three touchdowns.

Junior quarterback Alex Smith was 20 of 41 passing for 184 yards with four interceptions and one touchdown for the Lakers (0-4, 1-4) and Joe Aalid had six catches for 44 yards.

KIMBALL – Maple Lake (4-0, 5-0), ranked fourth in the state in Class 2A by The Associated Press, rushed for 330 yards on 38 carries to overwhelm Kimball (2-2, 3-2).

Cal Redemske led the Irish by rushing 17 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns. Drew Hanson ran six times for 106 yards and three TDs for Maple Lake.

Cameron Hunt completed 10 of 19 passes for 124 yards and two TDs with no interceptions for the Cubs.

PIERZ – Pierz senior running back Josh Lanners stole the show finishing the game with more than 300 total yards and six touchdowns in Central Minnesota Conference play.

Junior Nathan Athman also chipped in 116 yards and a touchdown on the ground for the Pioneers.

Pierz (3-1, 4-1) finished the game with 493 rushing yards. EV-W fell to 0-5 on the season.

Nick Pauley was 22 of 36 passing for 240 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions for the Eagles. Cain Renner had seven catches for 110 yards with a touchdown for EV-W.

Litchfield’s Zach Kinny was 21 of 34 passing for 237 yards and two TDs and he also rushed for 60 yards and a TD. Devan Schliemann had four catches for 98 yards for the Dragons.

ROYALTON – Browerville senior quarterback Mitchell Heid was efficient through the air, going 6 of 9 for 141 yards and three touchdowns. He was also deadly on the ground as he rushed for a game-best 84 yards as Browerville bounced Royalton.

Royalton (1-2, 3-2) outrushed the Tigers (3-0, 3-2) by gaining 266 yards on the ground, but the Royals never manged to turn that production into points. Royalton was led by Tony Gadacz, who finished with 75 yards on the ground.

The Sawyer brothers acounted for both of the Dutchmen’s scores with Trevor Sawyer catching a 14-yard touchdown pass and Isaac Sawyer running one yard to cross the goal line for Melrose (2-3).

Seth Noll had 10 carries for 57 yards for Melrose.

ANNANDALE – Senior quarterback John Kalthoff through for 270 yards and two touchdowns in one half of action as Annandale downed Milaca on homecoming night.

Leading 33-0 at the half, Annandale pulled most of its first-team players before the start of the second. Senior running back Nick Anderson added 108 yards and three scores for the Cardinals (1-1, 4-1).

Milaca was led by Mike Garber, who threw for 125 yards and had three touchdowns.
