Senior Berenger Magis’ PAT after a Zach Kinney 2-yard touchdown run was the difference as Litchfield beat St. Cloud Cathedral 35-34 in a nonconference high school football game on Friday at Husky Stadium.

The Crusaders scored 15 points in the third quarter to take a 28-21 lead.

The Dragons (2-2) tied the game at 28 after a 2-yard touchdown run by Dylan Koll in the fourth quarter.

But the Crusaders (2-2) regained the lead at 34-28 after a 1-yard touchdown run by Bryan Bowar, but the PAT kick failed.

Junior Andrew Schneider had a 22-yard interception return for the Dragons.

Bowar rushed for 163 yards and two TDs and Bo Schmitz rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns for the Crusaders.

The Sabres (2-0 Central Lakes, 3-0 overall) rushed for 192 and held Grand Rapids (0-3) to 153 yards of total offense. Nick Gjemse and Drew Voshell had interceptions for Sartell.

Erik McAfee rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown and Parker Hagen completed 6 of 12 passes for 122 yards and one TD for Sartell.

MAPLE LAKE – Donnie Mavencamp’s 32-yard run with 21 seconds left capped a game-winning 89-yard TD drive and lift Maple Lake over Rockford.

GROVE CITY – Jordan Nelson ran for an 80-yard touchdown with 8:15 remaining to lift Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (3-1 West Central, 3-1 overall) past Paynesville (1-3, 1-3).

Paynesville led 14-6 in the third quarter before AC-GC scored twice in the second half.

AC-GC held Bulldogs leading rusher Nathan Meyer to no yards on 12 carries.

Matthew Quade led Paynesville with 51 yards rushing on 17 carries. He also completed 12 of 27 passes for 124 yards and one touchdown pass. The touchdown was a 3-yarder to Nick Dingmann.

Kalthoff gained 44 yards and scored two more touchdowns on the ground. Matt Miller led the Cardinals’ rushing attack with 118 yards.

Andy Russek caught three passes for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Annandale (1-1 Wright County, 3-1 overall).

“We held (Dassel-Cokato) under 100 yards rushing and DC is a powerful team so that’s pretty good,” said Annandale coach Matt Walter.
