MEG DARMOFAL

Mason sophomore

Green is good: Darmofal won the green division race at the Carson City-Crystal Don Baese Invitational on Saturday after winning the green division race at Michigan State’s Spartan Invitational earlier in September. She won the Greater Lansing Cross Country Championships last fall as a freshman before earning all-state honors with a 22nd-place finish at the Division 2 state finals as well as a spot on the Lansing State Journal Dream Team. Darmofal, who still plays on a club soccer team, also holds a 4.0 grade point average.

From coach Charles Miller: “She’s been kind of a soccer player (who is also a) runner, but she has definitely turned that corner where she considers herself a runner now. She picked track over soccer last spring, and it’s definitely starting to pay off. It’s fun to watch her in practice, because she works incredibly hard. So none of this is a surprise. I’m looking forward to seeing how she does in the Greater Lansing meet (on Oct. 13).”
