League’s top gymnasts -Lauren Clark (GL), Sara Peltier (GL), Presley Allison (GL), Jennica Lurie (EL), Katie Harris (H/W/B), Miranda Delaney (H/W/B), Rochelle Massa (H/W/B), Yana Damitio (F), Taylor Hull (Holt)

Last season: 6th place (4-5)

Coach: Anna Bratta (2nd season) and Elise Craig (2nd season)

Top returning gymnasts: Jennica Lurie (sr.), Gina Rosas (sr.), Leah Ring (jr.), Leah Buonodono (so.), Kathleen Russell (so.), Claire Fossum (so.)

Top newcomer: Elaine Loomis (fr.)

Outlook: The Trojans return several veterans, most notably all-area seniors Lurie and Rosas. Ring will team with a trio of sophomores as the squad looks to top last season’s sixth-place finish.

Last season: 3rd place (7-2)

Coach: Katie Paquette (7th season) and Corinne Jelkin

Top returning gymnasts: Clarice Hibbard (jr.), Yana Damito (jr.), Jazmin Farmer (jr.), Courtney Christoson (jr.)

Top newcomer: Taylor Moran (fr.)

Outlook: The Gladiators return the core of last season’s third-place squad and should be strong on the floor and vault. All-area junior Damito joins honorable mention juniors Farmer and Hibbard, a two-time state finalist, and third-year junior Christoson as the team hopes for a quicker start than last season when they had to overcome some early injuries.

Last season: 1st place (9-0)

Coach: Duane Haring (10th season)

Top returning gymnasts: Lauren Clark (sr.), Sara Peltier (sr.), Presley Allison (jr.), Taylor Stevens (jr.)

Top newcomers: Rachel Hogan (fr.), Maddie Loftus (fr.), Lexi Payne (fr.)

Outlook: Despite the graduation of LSJ gymnast of the year Christine Wilson, the Comets return several key members of last season’s repeat state championship squad, including Peltier (first in the all-around at state), Clark (second), Allison (third) and all-area honorable mention Stevens. They are joined by promising freshmen Hogan, Loftus and Payne. Grand Ledge has won 75 consecutive meets and though this year’s team is smaller in numbers, there appears to be no dropoff in talent.

Last season: 2nd place (8-1)

Coach: Marcie Durso (19th season) and Courtney Geisel (2nd season)

Top returning gymnasts: Katie Harris (sr.), Rochelle Massa (sr.), Miranda Delaney (sr.)

Other contributors: Cara Clarizio (fr.), Megan Ivey (fr.), Kikel Sekoni (so.), Julia Summitt (so.)

Outlook: There is no shortage of talent here with returning all-area seniors Harris and Delaney as well as honorable mention senior Massa. Harris and Massa both qualified for state as juniors. The trio will combine with a strong incoming class to give Haslett/Williamston/Bath one of the area’s top squads.

Last season: 4th place (6-3)

Coach: Kristyn Stierley (6th season)

Top returning gymnasts: Taylor Hull (sr.), Samantha Sarata (jr.), Alexis Espinosa (so.), Jenny McKee (sr.), Madison Starr (sr.)

Other contributors: Abigail Mealy (so.), Megan Kline (fr.), Mamie Rodriguez (fr.), Lauren Sanford (fr.)

Outlook: The Rams have a nice mix of veteran and incoming talent as they strive for a top-3 finish in the CAAC. The team is led by all-area honorable mention senior Hull, who qualified for the 2012 state meet in the vault. Also returning are seniors McKee and Starr, who both qualified for regionals, along with junior Sarata and sophomore Espinosa.

Last season: 7th place (3-6)

Coach: Kiki Wixson (30th season)

Top returning gymnasts: Anna Erevia (jr.), Quincie McCalla (jr.), Emily Perleberg (so.), Courtney Deweerd (sr.), Maddy Bohl (jr.)

Other contributors: Alyssa Siggers (fr.), Lindsay Deweerd (so.), Alexis Sweeny (fr.)

Outlook: The Bulldogs lost top gymnast Becca O’Keefe to graduation and will have a relatively young team with only one returning senior in Deweerd. Juniors Erevia, McCalla and Bohl will team with several sophomores and freshmen as the squad looks to improve as the season progresses.

Last season: 9th place (1-13)

Coach: Deb Davis (25th season)

Top returning gymnasts: Aubree Newhall (so.), Sarah Sochor (so.), Lauren St. George (so.), Paige Hufnagel (sr.)

Other contributors: Kelsey Jones (so.), Kelsie Lovegrove (so.), Halie Schilling (jr.), Taylor Stewart (so.)

Outlook: The Redwings are rebuilding with Hufnagel being the only returning senior. The team has a promising sophomore class led by Newhall, Sochor and St. George, who all qualified for regionals as freshmen. Davis hopes the team can overcome some recent injuries and improve upon last year’s standing in the CAAC.
