Elizabeth Kuenzi of Roncalli was named a first-team All-Eastern Wisconsin Conference selection and second-team all-state in Division 2.

Because of this, she also picked up another honor, the Herald Times Reporter girls tennis Athlete of the Year.

Kuenzi, a senior, helped lead the Jets to the WIAA Division 2 State Team Tournament in Madison with a 27-6 record.

Individually, she earned a spot in the fifth-place bracket at the WIAA Division 2 Individual State Tournament before finishing sixth.

“Elizabeth entered every match completely focused,” said Roncalli coach Mike Halla. “No matter who she played she always knew as much about her opponent as possible.”

Also helping Roncalli this season was the Jets’ No. 1 doubles pair of Abby Halla and Tallie Piaskowski, who won a school-record 31 matches. The duos only loss of the season came in the D2 State Doubles championship match.
