Parents of athletes planning to play basketball or soccer for the Heat this season have paperwork to complete by the first day of practices.

Contact Jessica Solid for more information at 321-757-9090. Practice will begin Oct. 15 for soccer, Oct. 22 for girls basketball and Oct. 29 for boys basketball.

Eau Gallie

The Commodores and Palm Bay will promote Breast Cancer Awareness on Wednesday with a Pink Out volleyball game.

Both teams will wear pink, as will the officials, and they will play with a pink ball. Survivors will be recognized and shirts will be sold.

Merritt Island

The Mustangs will host the 40-year reunion of the first Merritt Island High football state championship on Friday. The 1972 state title reunion will be held at Mustang Stadium.

The Mustangs won the state crown three times during the 1970s: in 1972, 1978 and 1979.

Viera

The Hawks’ varsity lacrosse program is searching for a boys head coach for next season.

Candidates should be a certified teacher, a qualified community coach or willing to become one. Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level is required.
