BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Central finished fourth with 163 points and Delta was fifth with 164 in the small-school division of the Marion Invitational, which was won by Wawasee with 36. Jace Hirst led the Bearcats with a sixth–place time of 17:33. Sam Zimmerman paced the Eagles in 23rd at 18:09. Southside, which had an incomplete team, was led by Charles McKinley 62nd in 19:55. New Castle placed 12th in the large-school division and was led by Sam Willis in 32nd place in 17:23.
Monroe Central finished ninth at the Treat City Invitational in Greenville, Ohio. Tanner Thompson ran a 17:57.03 to finish 27th and lead the Golden Bears.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Delta scored 145 points and finished sixth in the small-school division of the Marion Invitational. Angola won with 75. Central was ninth with 205. Jenna Parsons paced the Eagles in 18th place at 21:21. Hannah Greiner led the Bearcats in 14th place at 21:13. New Castle finished 13th among large schools with 359 points. Rebecca Foster led the Trojans in 51st at 22:20.
Monroe Central finished 16th at the Treat City Invitational in Greenville, Ohio. Makenzie Norris ran a 22:03.69 to finish 12th and lead the Golden Bears.
Southside fell to Connersville 10-1. Isaiah Bradley scored the Rebels’ goal.
Central finished sixth at the Richmond Invitational. The No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Fox and Drake Clohessy went 2-1 to take third. Bracken Petroviak and Bobby Cunningham went 2-1 at second doubles and finished fifth.
Delta went 2-0 at the Fort Wayne Carroll Invitational. The Eagles advanced to the championship match against Fort Wayne Canterbury, though that match was postpned due to inclement weather. Alec St. John and Jordan Fenwick each went 2-0 in singles play for the Eagles. Evan Rodenberger and Nick Wilson went 2-0 at first doubles. Delta will try to reschedule the championship match against Canterbury.
Jay County beat Franklin County 56-21 on Friday. JD Mangas had 106 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown for the Patriots.
Randolph Southern went 3-1 at its home invitational to finish second, beating Southside, Indianapolis Manual and Franklin County and losing to Plainfield. Plainfield won the tournament.
Southside went 1-2 at the Randolph Southern Invitational, beating Indianapolis Manual and falling to Plainfield and Randolph Southern.
A fall league will be offered for middle and high-school golfers in East Central Indiana. The league will consist of four rounds at ECI courses, following by a two-round tournament. Middle-school players will play nine-hole matches and cost is $95. High-school players will play 18-hole matches and the cost is $140.
