Southside went 2-1 at the Jay County Invitational, with a loss to the host Patriots and wins against Frankton and Union City. Hannah Wilhoite had 25 kills in the three matches for Southside.
Class 4A No. 2 New Castle swept Burris 25-17, 25-19, 25-17. Lauryn Gillis had 18 kills for New Castle, while Isabel Gothard had 23 digs for Burris
Central won the Southwood Invitational, going 4-0 for the day. Jaydn’ Pegues had 37 kills and 24 digs for the day, while Kaitlin Kerrigan had 24 kills and 18 digs. Jessica Helms had 48 digs.
Central beat Kokomo 4-3. Chase Clasby had two goals and two assists for the the Bearcats. Andrew Dowdle and Carlos Rodriguez also scored.
Burris shut out Wapahani 4-0. Jack McGee, Ben Klinker, Isaac Shroll and Victor Adeleke each scored for the Owls.
Jay County lost to host Oak Hill 9-0.
Blackford lost to Eastern 9-0.
Central got shut out 4-0 and keeper Jessica Rowe had three saves in the loss.
Beverly Brittingham and Katie Wolfert each scored two goals as Yorktown beat Shelbyville 5-0. Abby Mansker and Katie Nixon each tallied two assists for the Tigers (9-6).
Burris fell to Pendleton Heights 7-0. Shade Kirksey had 24 saves for the Owls.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Yorktown finished fifth at the Hoosier Heritgae Coference meet with 117 points and Delta finished sixth with 119 points. Delta’s Jenna Parsons finished sixth..
Monroe Central finished sixth at the South Adams Invitational with 159 points while Randolph Southern finished 14th.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Yorktown finished third, while Delta finished eighth at the Hoosier Heritage Conference cross country meet. Chris Lowry finished sixth for Yorktown and Delta’s Sam Zimmerman was 34th.
