Ricardo Arguello goes one-on-one with Neenah senior diver Greysen Hertting:
Q: Have you met your individual goals so far this season?
A: I have met a majority of my goals this year. I’ve wanted to improve my score as best as I could. The real test will be at state. There we will see if all of my goals have been met!
Q: How much time do you put into your sport? Is it a busy offseason for you?
A: I dive year round, almost every day. While we don’t compete in meets, it’s a vigorous offseason.
Q: What has been the highlight of your sports career thus far?
A: Definitely winning sectionals. I had fun, a personal best, and I beat the team, pool and sectional record. It was a good night.
Q: What’s the mindset for you when you compete in diving? Is it different than in other swimming events, like say the butterfly or medleys?
A: Calm down and have fun. I know what I have to do. I know how to do it. I might as well have some fun while doing it. I’d say it’s a little different. While both are full of competition and focus, speed is different than form and the mindset is also different.
Q: Let’s say I gave you two first-class tickets to go anywhere in the world on vacation. Where would you go and whom would you take with you?
A: That’s a hard one. I would go somewhere tropical, probably Fiji or Jamaica. I would bring my mom.
Q: It’s favorites time! What’s your favorite TV show?
A: “Criminal Minds.” Amazing show!
Q: Favorite movie?
A: Lots! Probably “National Treasure.”
Q: Favorite breakfast cereal?
A: Cocoa Pebbles.
Q: Favorite cartoon as a kid?
A: “Cyberchase” or “Arthur.”
Q: Favorite place to relax?
A: A comfortable chair outside in the sun.
Q: Favorite place to vacation?
A: It’s actually pretty close, Wausau. My grandparents live there and it’s full of great memories!
Q: Favorite Olympic swimmer
A: Michael Phelps or Ryan Lochte.
Q: Favorite store at Fox River Mall?
A: I’m actually not a fan of shopping! I’d choose Target.
Q: Favorite meal prepared by mom?
A: I love Chicken pot pie!
Q: Favorite holiday?
A: Christmas. I enjoy the music and the food.
Q: Oh no! You’re stranded on a desert island! You have plenty of food and water, but you’re allowed three things to have with you on the island. What would those three things be.
A: An interesting book, not sure which one. My iPod for music. A crossword puzzle or Sudoku. With these, I’ll be able to survive.
Q: What will you remember most about your time at Neenah and being on the swim team?
A: Definitely the people. The swimmers are great and the divers are amazing. I have so many good memories and I’m going to miss it!
