Shore Coaches Cross Country Invitational

Delsea Regional High School senior Nick Costello took second place in the Boys’ Varsity C race Saturday at Holmdel Park, finishing the 5K run in 16 minutes, 22 seconds — 10 seconds behind winner Benjamin Maloney (16:12) of Pascack Valley.

Delsea junior Derek Earnhardt (17:35) took 18th place, while junior John Pearson (18:06) was 32nd.

The Crusaders finished third in the team standings (157) behind second-place Indian Hills (132) and winner Princeton (128).

On the girls’ side, Celine Mazzi finished fourth for Delsea in the Girls’ Varsity D race with a time of 20:30.

Buena’s Gina Testa was 10th at 21:08, helping the Chiefs to a third-place team finish with 144 points. Delsea was ninth with 196 points. Rumson-Fair Haven won the meet with 65 points.
