Prep soccer roundup: Culligan scores 100th career goal for Johnnies

COLLEGEVILLE – Clare Culligan scored her 100th career goal for the St. John’s Prep girls soccer team in a 7-3 win over Zimmerman in a Granite Ridge Conference game Tuesday afternoon.

Culligan scored five of her team’s goals and now has 101 for her career. Culligan’s fourth goal of the day was her 100th.

The score was tied at 2 at halftime, but the Johnnies came out with aggression in the second half and scored five additional goals to seal the victory.

Ellen Arnold tallied the other two goals for St. John’s Prep (1-0, 3-2) and Leah Schellinger contributed six saves.

ST. CLOUD CATHEDRAL 7, BECKER 1

St. Cloud Cathedral breezed past Becker at Whitney Park in Granite Ridge conference play.

Senior forward Cia Strong and junior forward Ellie Engel each had three goals for the Crusaders. Senior Courtney Jones also added a goal for Cathedral (1-0, 2-1).

Becker senior goalkeeper Emily Wolff had 20 saves.

SARTELL 2, WILLMAR 0

WILLMAR – The Sabres were able to score two goals in the first eight minutes of the game and were then forced to rely on a strong defensive effort to get the win.

Katie Stuttgen and Margarete Minnerath each had a goal for Sartell (2-1). Goalie Erin Deters made two saves in earning her first shutout of the season.

SAUK RAPIDS 1, FERGUS FALLS 0

FERGUS FALLS – Nicole Partch scored in the 21st minute and Sauk Rapids held on for the Central Lakes Conference win.

Olivia Stockinger stopped six shots to earn the shutout for the Storm (2-0 CLC, 4-0 overall), which finished with 13 shots.

Kayla Bauer notched her fifth assist of the season when the ball bounced back to her after her initial corner kick. Bauer sent the ball back to the front of the net where Partch knocked it in.

ST. JOHN’S PREP 3, CENTRAL MINN. CHRISTIAN 2

Patricio Uribe scored the game-winning goal with three minutes left to lift St. John’s Prep over Central Minnesota Christian School 3-2 Tuesday night at Whitney Park.

H.P. Park put the Johnnies on the board 15 minutes into the game and Robert Kim scored before halftime to make it 2-1 in favor of St. John’s Prep.

CMCS tied the game with 10 minutes left. Michael Jacobs had two assists, one of them on Uribe’s goal.

Kim added an assist and Caz Novak had seven saves for the Johnnies (3-2), who finished with 14 shots.

SARTELL 3, WILLMAR 0

SARTELL – Sartell was victorious in a Central Lakes Conference game on its home field against Willmar.

Senior forward Jared Forst led the way for the Sabres with two goals. Freshman Cullen Chisholm added the third goal for Sartell.

Junior forward Kyle Erickson contributed two assists for the Sabres (2-1, 2-2) and senior goalkeeper Skylar Gardner added five saves.

ST. CLOUD CATHEDRAL 8, BECKER 0

BECKER – Andres Almarza didn’t fair too badly in his debut in net for the Crusaders, making four saves and notching a shutout.

Blake Peters and Patrick Krebsbach accounted for most of the scoring, tallying five of the eight goals. Peters scored three goals to lead the Crusaders. Cathedral (3-0-1) led 5-0 at the half.

LITTLE FALLS 12, PRINCETON 1

LITTLE FALLS – The Flyers unleashed a scoring barrage with 10 goals in the first half.

Tim Infinger and Connor Jorgensen each had three goals and Gabe Ploof made three saves. Little Falls improved to 1-2.
