Andy Foley and Lucas Bonkrude scored their first career goals as St. Cloud Tech rolled past Alexandria 3-0 in Central Lakes Conference boys soccer action Thursday night at Husky Stadium.
Andrew Eisenreich only had to make one save to preserve the shutout as Tech improved to 2-1 in Central Lakes Conference play and 4-1 overall.
St. Cloud Apollo 11, Fergus Falls 2
FERGUS FALLS – Senior captain Hamse Abdul had three goals and two assists and Addifatah Musse, Said Gure and Sade Osman all had two goals apiece to lead Apollo (4-0 CLC, 5-1 overall)
Defender Cory Waldron had a goal and two assists and Adiaziz Handule added a goal for the Eagles, who got two assists from Leighton Lommel and single assists from Aidan Sim-Campos and Sadik Ibrahim.
Cooper Gray started in goal for Apollo and had two saves in the first half. John Robinson played in the second half and made five saves.
SARTELL 3, BRAINERD 0
BRAINERD – The Sabres carried a 1-0 lead into halftime with Zach Jacobson knocking in a goal. Carter Kasianov and Kyle Erickson added insurance goals in the second half securing Sartell’s third win of the season (3-2). Skylar Gardner stopped nine shots to earn the shutout.
Sauk Rapids 2, Willmar 1
WILLMAR – Issa Ibrahim and Erik Cooper each had goals for Sauk Rapids in a Central Lakes Conference win.
Sam Hastings made four saves for the Storm, who led 2-0 at halftime.
St. John’s Prep 2,
Little Falls 1
COLLEGEVILLE – Senior midfielder Jake Stock opened the scoring for the St. John’s Prep in the 46th minute of a Granite Ridge Conference victory. Senior defender RJ Alpers then doubled the Johnnies’ lead in the 68th minute.
Sophomore midfielder Thomas Bell shrunk the Johnnie lead from the penalty shot in the 76th minute for the Flyers to make it 2-1. Unfortunately for Little Falls, it was their only goal of the day.
Senior keeper Caz Novak made 10 saves for St. John’s Prep. Gabe Ploof had 14 saves for the Flyers.
Becker 4, Princeton 2
PRINCETON – Zack Vieau scored all four goals in Becker’s Granite Ridge Conference win at Princeton.
Erik Tunglund had two assists for the Bulldogs (1-1, 2-4) and Ben Gilchrist came up with 20 saves.
ST. CLOUD CATHEDRAL 3, ZIMMERMAN 0
ZIMMERMAN – Ellie Engel provided St. Cloud Cathedral’s offense in a Granite Ridge Conference win. Engel netted a hat trick and Mo Schroeder made eight saves in the shutout. Justine Charles stopped 13 shots for Zimmerman.
The Crusaders improved to 2-0 in conference play and 3-1 overall.
St. John’s Prep 4,
Little Falls 2
LITTLE FALLS – Clare Culligan put St. John’s Prep on the board, gave the Johnnies the lead and tacked on another goal late in the Granite Ridge Conference win at Little Falls.
Kaitlyn Durham gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead two minutes into the game and Culligan knotted the game in the 36th minute. Little Falls’ Jordan Schuett scored 30 seconds after halftime but Taylor Nydeen answered for Prep in the 58th minute.
Culligan scored the game winner with 16 minutes remaining and added another with 30 seconds left. Prep outshot the Flyers 9-7.
Lauren Thielman finished with five saves for Little Falls (0-2 Granite Ridge).
Princeton 3, Becker 0
BECKER – Princeton scored two second-half goals to beat Becker in a Granite Ridge Conference contest.
SAUK RAPIDS 1, WILLMAR 0
SAUK RAPIDS – The Storm outshot Willmar 26-2 en route to a Central Lakes Conference win. It was the fourth consecutive game the Sauk Rapids defense didn’t allow a goal.
Nicole Partch put the Storm on the board with a goal 17 minutes into the first half on an assist from Emma Krueger. Sauk Rapids is (3-0, 5-0).
Sartell 1, Brainerd 1 (OT)
SARTELL – Lauren Williams, a junior outside midfielder, scored on a corner kick to help Sartell (2-1-1 Central Lakes, 2-1-1 overall) tie Brainerd (2-0-1, 2-0-1).
Williams’ goal came five minutes into the second half. Her corner kick deflected off a scrum of players in front of the net.
Brainerd’s Emily Beltram scored 18 minutes later, with about 17 minutes to go.
Erin Deters had 13 saves in goal for Sartell. Brainerd’s Heather Campbell also had 13 saves.
Sartell plays at 1 p.m. Saturday in Proctor.
St. Cloud Tech 0
Anna Spanbauer had two goals and Emily Korkowski added one to lead Alexandria past Tech at St. Cloud State’s Husky Stadium.
Alexandria (2-1 CLC, 3-1 overall) led 1-0 at halftime and outshot Tech (1-2, 1-4) 13-3.
“It was one of those games where we didn’t generate anything,” Tigers head coach Eric Olson said. “Alex played well. They beat us to every single ball.
“It’s one of those things with high school athletics where the effort seemed to be lacking.”
Milee Peavey had 10 saves for Tech in goal.
Tech plays Buffalo at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Husky Stadium.
St. Cloud Apollo 2,
Fergus Falls 0
Senior Kate Warren was the only name on the scoresheet for Apollo, scoring both goals for her team in a Central Lakes Conference win at Apollo High School.
One of Warren’s goals was scored unassisted, but the second came on an assist from senior forward Sabina Babic.
Senior keeper Liz Lowry made four saves for the Eagles. Fergus Falls senior keeper Rachel Heidorn had nine saves.
