The Holdingford boys and girls cross country teams both took home victories Friday at the Maple Lake Invitational.

The Huskers boys won via a tiebreaker with Delano. Holdingford’s No. 6 runner, sophomore Jacob Thell, took 20th with a time of 19 minutes to break the tie. He finished 12 places ahead of Delano’s No. 6 runner, sophomore Mike Bunker. In cross country, the top five finishers for each team score with their place finishes in the race. In case of a tie, the No. 6 runner’s place is added to the team scores to break the tie.

Holdingford was led by sophomore Abe Skwira’s fourth-place finish (17:27). Delano junior Sam Thomas won the boys race in 16:46.

In the girls race, sophomore Emily Wolter took second with a time of 16:17 to lead the Huskers to the team title with 38 points. Maple Lake was second with 65. St. Cloud Christian School junior McKenzie Holt won the girls race in 15:27.

Francesca Walker-Rozo won three events for St. Cloud Tech in a Central Lakes Conference loss to Brainerd on Thursday at Tech High School.

Walker-Rozo won the 50 freestyle in 26.02, the 100 butterfly (1:01.38) and helped the 200 medley relay team (Yenaya Hanna, Lizzie Schaefer and Katie Heller) win in 2:00.87.
