Prep volleyball: Haider leads Sartell past Brainerd 3-2

SARTELL – Ashton Haider had 20 kills to lead the way as Sartell defeated Brainerd 3-2 in Central Lakes Conference prep volleyball action Tuesday night at Sartell High School.

Match scores were 25-18, 22-25, 31-33, 25-19, 15-6.

Cassie Ross had 15 kills to aid the winning cause.

WILLMAR 3, ST. CLOUD TECH 1

WILLMAR – Kelsey Berg recorded 24 digs for the Tech, but it was not enough to keep the Cardinals from spiking their way to victory in Central Lakes Conference play.

Game scores were 25-18, 25-12, 21-25 and 25-16.

Kelsey Berg added 19 set assists for the Tigers (2-5, 2-8).

FERGUS FALLS 3, ST. CLOUD APOLLO 0

FERGUS FALLS Mel Gebhardt had 12 digs and seven kills, but the Eagles fell to the defending Central Lakes Conference champions.

Match scores were 19-25, 22-25, 21-25. Apollo remains winless in the CLC at 0-6.

Rocori 3, Sauk Rapids 0

SAUK RAPIDS – Morgan Koshiol had seven kills to lead the way as Rocori downed Sauk Rapids in Central Lakes Conference play. Jill Rothstein had two ace serves and eight set assists.

Game scores were 25-18, 25-19, 25-20. Sierra Karls had 14 kills, 11 digs and four ace serves for Sauk Rapids.

Nicole Stedje had 23 set assists for the Storms (2-6, 8-9).

Zimmerman 3, St. Cloud Cathedral 1

ZIMMERMAN – Jenna Januschka finished with 10 kills and 21 digs but St. Cloud Cathedral fell to Zimmerman.

Game scores were 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18.

Rylee Medelberg had 12 kills and three solo blocks, Sophie Harris had 24 set assists and Sarah Windschitl added six kills and three solo blocks for the Crusaders (5-2, 7-6).

Albany 3, Mora 1

MORA – Callie Manthe led Albany with 18 kills in a win against Mora.

Game scores were 17-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-20.

Sam Schlangen had 35 set assists, Cassie Shaver had 23 digs and Amazih Eickhoff finished with 10 kills and 19 digs for the Huskies (6-0 GRC, 12-5 overall).

LITTLE FALLS 3, PRINCETON 0

LITTLE FALLS – Little Falls flew past Princeton thanks in part to Noelle Kurowski’s 11 kills and 10 digs.

The Flyers won 25-16, 25-16, 25-11. Little Falls also got a strong outing from Stephanie Wardarski who tallied 28 set assists.

FOLEY 3, BECKER 1

FOLEY – Nicole Skwira led the Falcons to their first Granite Ridge Connference win with 11 kills and seven blocks.

Teammate Cassie Ritsche had 10 kills and three blocks. Match scores were 25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16.

PAYNESVILLE 3, ACGC 2

GROVE CITY – Rachel Ampe had 10 kills and 14 digs to lead Paynesville in a win against Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.

Game scores were 26-24, 22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12.

Megan Schaefer had four ace serves and 21 digs, Merisa Whitcomb had 32 set assists and 17 digs and Sam Dahl led all diggers with 46 for the Bulldogs (2-5, 3-13).

SAUK CENTRE 3, MONTEVIDEO 0

SAUK CENTRE – Sauk Centre rolled behind strong games from seniors Jena Klaphake and Macy Weller.

Klaphake finished with 14 kills for the Mainstreeters while Weller tallied 36 set assists. Sauk Centre (7-0, 15-0) won 25-6, 25-9, 25-19.

ROYALTON 3, EAGLE VALLEY 0

ROYALTON – Kalee Petron finished the match with 11 kills to lead the Royals to victory over Eagle Valley in Prairie Conference play.

Game scores were 25-21, 25-17 and 25-19. Jacqueline Nichols also added eight service aces and 14 digs for Royalton.

UPSALA 3, LP-GE 2

UPSALA – Aimee Pelzer led the Cardinals with 15 kills as they held on to beat Long Prairie-Grey Eagle in Prairie Conference play.

Game scores were 25-22, 19-25, 27-25, 23-25 and 15-11.

Makenna Peterson also put in a good performance for Upsala, recording 14 kills, 11 blocks and eight blocks. Jenna Langer had 24 kills and 20 digs to lead the Thunder. Emily Jansen had 41 set assists and 12 digs. Maggie Chapin had 14 digs, 13 kills and six ace serves.

BBE 3, New London-Spicer 2

BELGRADE – Becca Gruber finished with 16 kills as Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa topped New London-Spicer in nonconference action.

Game scores were 24-26, 25-19, 18-25, 25-6, 15-4.

LAKE REGION CHRISTIAN 3, ST. CLOUD CHRISTIAN 2

BAXTER – The Warriors came back from a 2-1 deficit with a win in the fourth game, but it wasn’t enough to give them the victory against Lake Region Christian in nonconference play.

Game scores were 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 22-25 and 15-10.

Toria Gillson led the way for St. Cloud Christian, finishing the match with 15 digs, seven kills and one block.

Laura Knoblauch also contributed for the Warriors with 19 set assists, four kills and ten digs.

MELROSE 3, HOLDINGFORD 1

MELROSE – Briana Schmiesing led Melrose with 16 kills in their nonconference victory over the Huskers.

Game scores were 19-25, 25-23, 25-13 and 25-7.

Shelby Uphoff also recorded double-digit kills for the Dutchmen, finishing with ten as well as eight digs and one service ace. Jena Vilkers contributed 4 service aces for Holdingford as well as 10 digs.

Rockford 3, Providence Academy 0

ROCKFORD – Ellen Paatela had 14 kills as Rockford swept Providence Academy 25-23, 25-14, 25-19.

Litchfield 3, Eden Valley-Watkins 0

EDEN VALLEY – Kaylee Forcier led Eden Valley-Watkins with nine kills and 10 digs but Litchfield swept the Eagles.

Game scores were 25-14, 25-20, 25-17.

Clarissa Roy and Courtney Dilley added seven kills apiece for EVW (10-4 overall).

ANNANDALE 3, KIMBALL 0

KIMBALL – Senior Breane Meierhofer batted 10 kills and senior Tiffany Kuechle added 10 assists but Kimball couldn’t climb past Annandale.

The Cardinals defeated the Cubs 25-19, 26-24, 25-18.
