Prep volleyball roundup: Honer, Tech tiptoe past Sauk Rapids, 3-2


Senior Katie Honer had 24 set assists and junior Kelsey Berg had 16 kills as St. Cloud Tech outlasted Sauk Rapids 3-2 in Central Lakes Conference prep volleyball action Tuesday night at Tech High School.

Game scores were 20-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-12.

Sierra Karls racked up 20 kills for Sauk Rapids. Kari Hiscock added 13 digs for the Storm (2-7 CLC).


COLD SPRING – Morgan Koshiol led the charge with 13 kills as Rocori dispatched Alexandria in Central Lakes Conference play.

Jill Rothstein tallied 15 assists and was 22-for-22 serving with three aces for the Spartans.

Game scores were 11-25, 17-25, 25-13, 25-8 and 15-11.

Fergus Falls 3, Sartell 0

FERGUS FALLS – Ashton Haider led Sartell with eight kills, but Fergus Falls swept the Sabres in Central Lakes Conference play.

Game scores were 25-20, 25-21, 25-14.

Haider added seven digs for the Sabres (8-10 overall).

Willmar 3, Brainerd 0

WILLMAR – Willmar cruised to a home victory over Brainerd.

Game scores were 25-12, 25-11, 25-20.


ALBANY – The Huskies remained unbeaten in the Granite Ridge Conference with their eighth consecutive win.

Callie Manthe had 11 kills and five digs to spark the Huskies (14-5).

Sam Schlangen had 31 set assists and Cassie Shaver swatted four ace serves.

Sauk Centre 3, Benson 0

SAUK CENTRE – Ashley Kollman had 10 kills to lead Sauk Centre to a sweep of Benson.

Game scores were 25-10, 25-6, 25-2.

Jena Klaphake had 26 set assists and Katie Reitsma added 18 digs for the Mainstreeters (9-0 WCC, 18-0 overall).

Sauk Centre beat Yellow Medicine East 25-12, 25-13, 25-12 in a match on Monday.

Minnewaska 3, Paynesville 0

PAYNESVILLE – Rachel Ampe, Kayla Reiman, Avery Davidson and Sadie Hukriede each four kills, but Paynesville fell to Minnewaska in West Central Conference play.

Game scores were 26-24, 25-19, 25-17.

Ariel Ostrander had seven kills for Minnewaska.

Litchfield 3, New London-Spicer 0

LITCHFIELD – The Dragons rolled to a Wright County Conference win at home.

Game scores were 25-20, 25-19, 25-11.

Upsala 3, West Central 0

BARRETT – Aimee Pelzer had seven kills, nine set assists, 17 digs and one ace block as Upsala (7-0, 15-5) rolled past West Central in Prairie Conference play.

Game scores were 25-17, 25-14, 25-10. Danica Cheney had 14 set assists, seven kills and 11 digs. Tracy Herzog added six kills, 12 digs and 10 blocks.


SWANVILLE – Emily Jansen racked up 19 assists and six aces for the Thunder (18-6). Jenna Langer tallied 12 kills, seven digs, and five blocks.

Game scores were 25-13, 25-11, 25-20.


FOLEY – The Pioneers earned their twelfth win of the season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Foley in a nonconference matchup.

Bridget Bender was a leader for Pierz, recording 15 kills and seven digs in the match. Jessica Hawks had four digs, two kills and 12 set assists for the Pioneers.

Foley’s Shelby Johnson led her team with eight kills.

St. Cloud Cathedral 3, HLWW 0

Jenna Januschka led St. Cloud Cathedral with nine kills in a nonconference win against Howard Lake-Waverly/Winsted at Cathedral High School.

Game scores were 25-16, 25-16, 25-13. Rylee Medelberg had seven kills and seven ace serves, Sophie Harris had 20 set assists and Maggie Jackson added six ace serves for the Crusaders (13-7-1 overall).
