Prep volleyball roundup: Loesh, Tech calm Storm

SAUK RAPIDS – St. Cloud Tech lost the first set, but rebounded to beat Sauk Rapids 3-2 in five games in a Central Lakes Conference prep volleyball match Thursday night.

Match scores were 22-25, 25-20, 13-25, 27-25, 15-11. Kylie Loesch had nine kills and 13 set assists for the Tigers. Katie Honer had 10 set assists and three kills for the Tigers.

Kari Hiscock had 12 digs for the Storm. Kayla Kahl had five blocks. Kristen Carribeau added four.

Fergus Falls 3, Sartell 0

SARTELL – Amelia Barkley had five assists in Sartell’s loss to Fergus Falls.

Match scores were 25-11, 25-18, 25-9. Lizz Gessell had five ace blocks for the Sabres (1-1).

ALEXANDRIA 3, ROCORI 1

ALEXANDRIA – Rocori sophomore Morgan Koshiol finished with six kills and four blocks to lead the Spartans, but Rocori couldn’t keep up with Alexandria on the road.

The Cardinals downed Rocori 25-16, 25-13, 20-25, 25-14 in four sets. As a team, Rocori (0-1, 2-3) finished with 12 blocks.

MOUND-WESTONKA 3, ANNANDALE 1

ANNANDALE – Annandale rallied in the third set and almost stole the fourth, but it was Mound-Westonka who pulled out a 25-19, 25-15, 19-25, 25-22 victory over the Cardinals (0-1) on the road .

BIG LAKE 3,
St. Cloud APOLLO 2

A back and forth match fell in Big Lake’s favor as the Hornets stung St. Cloud Apollo in nonconference play at Apollo High School.

Big Lake won 25-11, 15-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-10.

The Eagles (0-1) were led by juniors Caitlyn Pederson, Hannah Havemeier and sophomore Josie Thelen who all combined for 12 kills, 12 digs and 18 set assists. Thelen finished with six kills and three digs while Havemeier added six kills and nine digs of her own. Pederson notched 18 set assists.

Litchfield 3,
St. Cloud Cathedral 1

LITCHFIELD – Rylee Medelberg had 11 kills, five ace serves and two solo blocks to lead Litchfield in a nonconference win against St. Cloud Cathedral.

Game scores were 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 25-10.

Jenna Januschka finished with eight kills and 13 digs for the Crusaders (0-1) and Sophie Harris had 25 set assists.

UPSALA 3, HOLDINGFORD 0

HOLDINGFORD – Aimee Pelzer helped keep Upsala undefeated (2-0) with 13 kills, 7 digs and 10 asssist in a nonconference win. Teammate MaKenna Peterson tallied eight kills, nine digs and three aces for the Cardinals who won the match 25-21, 25-10, 25-13)

LP-GE 3, Little Falls 2

LITTLE FALLS – Nicole Kurowski had 17 kills, but Long Prairie-Grey Eagle overcame a 2-0 deficit to win the last three sets and beat the Flyers in nonconference play.

Match scores were 16-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-5.

Maple Lake 3,
Zimmerman 0

ZIMMERMAN – Maple Lake defeated Zimmerman in nonconference play. Match scores were 25-20, 25-21, 25-15.

SAUK CENTRE 3, BENSON 0

SAUK CENTRE – Macy Weller led Sauk Centre with 18 kills and nine digs as the Mainstreeters burried Benson. Jena Klaphake added 24 set assists for Sauk Centre (1-0, 5-0) and Ashley Kollman added nine kills and nine digs.

Match scores were 25-9, 25-12, 25-10.

B-B-E 3, MORRIS 0

BELGRADE – Brittany Roelike was 12-for-12 serving with two aces, while tallying five digs for the Jaguars who won the nonconference matchup 25-19, 25-21, 25-19.
