Prep volleyball: Sauk Centre defeats Morris area, improves to 8-0

SAUK CENTRE – The Sauk Centre volleyball team improved to 4-0 in the West Central Conference and 8-0 overall with a 3-0 win over Morris Area Thursday night.

Sauk Centre won 25-20, 25-5, 25-16.

Macy Weller had 21 kills, three blocks, five digs and three aces for Sauk Centre, Jena Klaphake had 46 set assists, Ashley Kollman had 11 kills and 11 digs and Kendra Zenzen had eight kills and seven digs.

ALEXANDRIA 3,
SAUK RAPIDS 0

ALEXANDRIA – Kari Hiscock and Bridget Bagley had 10 digs to lead Sauk Rapids in a loss to Alexandria.

Game scores were 25-15, 25-18, 25-14.

Kristen Carriveau led the Storm offense with five kills. Sauk Rapids drops to 1-5 in the CLC and 5-6 overall.

BRAINERD 3, ROCORI 2

COLD SPRING – Sam Koshiol had 12 kills, but Rocori fell short in a five-game loss to Brainerd.

Game scores were 29-27, 25-23, 15-25, 16-25, 15-4. Ficker and Jill Rothstein each had 12 set assists for the Spartans (1-3 CLC, 3-7 overall). Rocori’s Heather Buerman added seven kills and four ace blocks.

WILLMAR 3, SARTELL 0

SARTELL – Willmar swept Sartell in Central Lakes conference play.

Senior Ashton Haider and sophomore Amelia Barkley both led the Sabres with 10 kills. Haider also had three service aces. Sartell is 4-6 on the year.

ALBANY 3, MELROSE 1

ALBANY – Kristin Buttweiler had 12 kills and two ace blocks to help the Huskies to a 3-1 victory in a nonconference match.

Game scores were 16-25, 25-16, 25-22, 26-24.

Sam Schlangen had eight kills, 14 digs, two ace blocks and 26 set assists for Albany (3-0, 8-1). Cassie Shaver also contributed for the Huskies, adding 26 digs to lead the team in that category.

ST. CLOUD CATHEDRAL 3,
MORA 2

Rylee Medelberg had 15 kills, 13 digs, five aces and two blocks to help the Crusaders to a win at Cathedral High School.

Game scores were 25-9, 21-25, 25-16, 23-25, 15-13. Jenna Januschka had 13 kills and nine aces for Cathedral (3-1, 3-3) and Sophie Harris had 30 set assists.

EDEN VALLEY-WATKINS 3,
MAPLE LAKE 0

EDEN VALLEY – Junior Brittany Hess and senior Kaylee Forcier combined for 15 kills as Eden Valley-Watkins blew past Maple Lake.

The Eagles (2-0, 4-3) downed Maple Lake 25-18, 27-17, 25-20. Hess finished with six kills and eight digs while Forcier had nine kills of her own. Forcier also went 12 of 12 serving with two ace serves.

B-B-E 3, HOLDINGFORD 1

BELGRADE – The Jaguars won by scores of 17-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-22.

Haley Huls had 11 kills and nine digs for the Huskers (0-2 CMC, 5-5 overall), Amanda Young had five kills, 27 set assists and 13 digs and Jena Volkers had eight kills and 18 digs.

Taylor Braegelman had 20 kills and 12 digs for the Jaguars, Brittany Roelike had 16 kills and 13 digs and Hailey Braegelman had 27 set assists.

The Huskers take on St. Cloud Cathedral at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sauk Rapids tournament.

PIERZ 3, HL-W-W 0

PIERZ – The Pioneers rolled to a 25-11, 25-16 and 25-19 victory.

Anna Welle had nine kills and nine digs for the Pioneers, Brook Brausen had 10 set assists, Jessica Hawks had 11 set assists and Bridget Bednar had eight kills and six blocks.

KIMBALL 3, ROCKFORD 0

ROCKFORD – Breane Meierhofer finished with 18 kills and five aces in Kimball’s win against Rockford.

Game scores were 25-18, 25-15, 26-24. Macey Hurrle had four ace serves and Tiffany Kuechle added 15 set assists for the Cubs (1-1 CMC, 4-2 overall).

WACONIA 3, ANNANDALE 0

ANNANDALE – Waconia swept Annandale 25-14, 25-10, 25-12 in Wright County Conference play.

UPSALA 3, EAGLE VALLEY 0

UPSALA – Aimee Pelzer had 18 set assists and eight digs to help give Upsala the win in Prairie Conference play.

Game scores were 25-12, 28-26, 25-10. Danica Cheney contributed 13 set assists, eight kills, three service aces and five digs for the Cardinals. Tracy Herzog added two blocks, eight kills, three digs and four aces for Upsala (3-0, 5-0).

LP-GE 3, ROYALTON 0

ROYALTON – Maggie Chapin had eight kills and seven digs as Long Prairie-Grey Eagle swept Royalton.

Game scores were 25-17, 25-16, 25-12. Emily Jansen finished with 19 set assists and eight ace serves for the Royals (2-1 Prairie, 7-2 overall).
