Prep wrestling: Two Rivers goes 5-0 on Day 1 of event

On Day 1 of the two-day Northern Exposure Tournament in Merrill on Friday the Two Rivers wrestling team went 5-0 to win its pool and clinch a top-four finish.

Two Rivers defeated Little Chute 56-13, Marquette 66-9, Pittsville 63-6, Ladysmith 75-6 and Badger 50-10.

Ty Pelot (113 pounds), Cody Yauch (120), Brad Dimmick (160), Wes Dimmick (170), Nic Schroeder (195) and Paul Bianchi (106) each went 5-0 for the Raiders, who are ranked No. 3 in Division 2 in the most recent Wisconsin Wrestling Online rankings.

Pelot had four pins while Schroeder had three pins. Yauch set a new fastest pin record for Two Rivers as he had a seven-second pin in a match against Ladysmith.

Also for Two Rivers, Chris Yauch (132), Tyler Kust (138), Chandler Donati (145), Brian Duerschmidt (182), Bobby Geiger (220) and Scott Skornicka (285) each went 4-1.

Kust had four pins while Skornicka and Duerschmidt each had three pins.

Manitowoc Lincoln’s Zac Youngchild went 4-0 at 126 pounds and Jonah Mrozinsky went 2-0 at 182 pounds on Day 1 of the two-day, 60-team event.

Youngchild and Mrozinsky each had two pins while teammate Dylan Conjurski went 3-1 with a pair of major decisions.

For Mishicot, Weston Cracraft went 2-1 at 120 pounds with one pin, Luke Finnel (126) went 2-1 with two pins, Boone Young (132) went 3-1 with one pin, Mason Cracraft (145) went 2-1 with two pins and Jon Brendemuehl (220) went 2-0 with two pins.
