The weather was not the friend of the Campbellsport High School baseball team.
With the Cougars leading Kiel, 5-3, in the bottom of the sixth the game had to be called due to rain Monday at Kiel.
There were three rain delays which added to rain from overnight. That made the field unplayable, so another delay wouldn’t have helped.
The game was called and the score reverted back to the last completed inning, which ended with Kiel ahead 3-1, so the Raiders earn the win by that score.
A sacrifice fly by Jake Blatz was responsible for the official run for the Cougars (4-8, 3-5) in the loss. Campbellsport collected just three hits, all singles.
The Cougars led 1-0 into the bottom of the fourth when Kiel got its three runs.
Campbellsport coach Jerry Raether said the Cougars had runners on second and third after the sacrifice fly in the second inning with one out but couldn’t score again.
“We had our chances, we just didn’t get it done,” he said.
Today, Campbellsport goes to Sheboygan Falls.
