Mackel Reagan, who owns and runs Clarksville’s Budo Club, took a team to the 2012 Junior Olympics last week in Irvin, Texas.
The three day event drew close to 1,000 of the nation’s best athletes in the sport of Judo and Clarksville Budo got off to a very fast start, led by multi time national champion and Clarksville High wrestling star Bruno Reagan and new team member Cattie Green who both dominated to win Gold. Gabriella Reagan kept the momentum going with a strong performance, even though losing in the Gold Medal match by judge’s decision after her overtime match ended in a tie. Biayan Manivanh ended the day on a high note winning her Bronze medal.
Bruno Reagan was the only team member who competed in the IJF under 20 year old division the second day . He secured the Gold in the open category and Bronze in the 100+ kg. This pushed Clarksville Budo to 7th place in the standings.
On the third day, Bruno captured Gold in the 100+ international IJF U20 division and Silver in the juvenile B Gold medal match. A quick Gold by Gabriella Reagan followed by Silver by Brinna Lavelle and another Bronze by Baiyan Manivanh and Clarksville Budo club had the State of Tennessee’s first top 10 team performance.
The team finished with 5 Gold (National Champions) 3 Silver and 3 Bronze. Bruno Reagan finished with a tournament best 3 Gold, a Silver, and a Bronze.
