Regina trounces Tipton


The Regina boys basketball team jumped to a 24-6 start in the first quarter and went on to beat Tipton 71-55 Friday at Regina.

Kenyon Browning had 21 points for Regina, Drew Cook had 13 points and nine rebounds, and Johnny Ries had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman point guard Nathan Stenger had five assists with just one turnover.

Regina is 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the CVC.

* MID-PRAIRIE 60, DURANT 42: The Golden Hawks used a 23-10 fourth-quarter run to pull away and win at Wellman.

Dayton Hall had 21 points, four steals and four assists, Nathan Faselt came off the bench for 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Elliot Runcinman had seven points and 15 rebounds.

Mid-Prairie is 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the CVC.

* WEST BRANCH 63, WEST LIBERTY 50: Rylan Murry had 38 points to lead the Bears over the Comets at West Branch.

West Branch led 29-24 at halftime and had a 37-17 rebounding advantage in the game, but West Liberty made eight 3-point goals to stay close.

Murry also had 10 rebounds and five assists. Cole Cook had eight points, seven rebounds and five assists. Mike Gould had seven points and 12 rebounds, and Lucas Lamont had eight points.

Tyler Newsom had 16 points for the Comets, and Kyle Miller had 12 points.

West Branch is 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Cedar Valley Conference. West Liberty is 5-2.

* SOLON 96, WEST DELAWARE 58: The Class 3A No. 2 Spartans had five players score in double figures at Solon.

Ryan Kunkel had 15 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks, Joe Weeks had 13 points, Ethan Ahern had 12 points, Rory Siddell had 11 points, Austin M. Miller had 10 points, and Emilio Villagrana had 10 assists.

Solon is 5-1.

* LONE TREE 70, LOUISA-MUSCATINE 35: Bryan Forbes had 22 points to lead the Class 1A No. 4 Lions in Letts.

Jordan Quigley had 10 points, Logan Forbes had nine points and nine steals, Trenton Gosnell had nine rebounds, and Lucas Sieverding had 11 assists.

Lone Tree 8-0.

* IMS 71, WINFIELD-MOUNT UNION 32: Cameron Gingerich had 17 points to lead Iowa Mennonite School at Winfield.

Joel Shetler added 13 points for IMS (6-1).

* PEKIN 77, HIGHLAND 55: The Panthers led 63-61 with three minutes to play but took off down the stretch to win in Riverside.

Josh Brase had a career-high 27 points with eight rebounds for Highland, and Jake Hootman had 18 points.

Highland is 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the SEISC.

* CLEAR CREEK AMANA 52, BENTON COMMUNITY 46: Josh Martinac had 14 points, 14 rebounds and five assists for the Clippers at Van Horne.

Kam Kahler had 14 points, and Keyan McAraeavy had 11 points with three 3-point goals.

Clear Creek Amana is 2-4 overall and 1-4 in the WaMaC.
