Coming off a dominating win over Calhan, the Resurrection Christian football team will look to get another win as it fights for playoff position Friday by taking on Cornerstone Christian Academy.
Cornerstone Christian Academy (1-5, 0-3 North Central) has lost five straight games after a season-opening win against Nederland.
The Cougars (3-3, 1-2) are currently fourth in the conference, but only one game behind Wiggins for third.
Key to the game: Cornerstone Christian has struggled to score points, getting shut out three times, including three out of the last four games. That means if RCS can get some solid offensive production, their chances of winning are high.
It took a couple of weeks, but RCS has regained its attack following some key early injuries. Quarterback Luke Mondt is completing 65 percent of his passes while running back Dan McCreery is averaging almost 6 yards per rush and more than 100 yards per game.
McCreery’s ability to run the ball combined with Mondt’s accuracy havegiven RCS a fairly even attack that rushes for 162 yards and throws for 215 yards per game. If those two combine as they have, RCS could see it back on track for a possible playoff spot.
