Now is crunch time. The Resurrection Christian football team is coming off of two consecutive dominant wins as it fights for a playoff spot.
And tonight the Cougars (4-3, 2-2 North Central) face a stern test when they host conference-leading Wray (6-1, 4-0) at Loveland Sports Park. While it’s a tough challenge, it’s also a golden opportunity. A win against the Eagles would put RCS in a much better position to qualify for the postseason.
It won’t be an easy task. Wray is ranked No. 3 in 1A and scores 33 points a game with a rushing attack that averages more than 200 yards per game.
Key to the game: Stingy D vs. Explosive O
Wray is allowing only 14 points per game. RCS carries an explosive offense that has scored a combined 99 points in the last two games. This game will likely be decided by which unit is able to control the pace of play.
The Cougars like to mix a solid passing game led by Luke Mondt with a rushing attack carried by Dan McCreery.
Wray: QB Cade Reinick (691 yards, 9 TDs passing, 700 yards, 12 TDs rushing), Matt Sullivan (4 sacks), Colby Newton (3 int.), Kyler Churchwell (3 int.).
RCS: QB Luke Mondt (1,383 yards and 16 TDs passing), RB Dan McCreery (695 yards, 10 TDs rushing), WR Jake Lohr (499 yards, 7 TDs receiving), DB Dakota Murrow (2 INT, 2 fumbles recovered.
