The Rocky Mountain boys soccer team’s season came to a close Wednesday night in the opening-round of the Class 5A State Playoffs, losing to Chatfield, 4-2, at Lakewood Memorial Field.
The Lobos had a tough task, entering the match as the No. 22 seed, playing the No. 11 Chargers, and the on-field result showed it. Rocky only trailed by one goal at halftime, but saw its deficit double and couldn’t successfully play catchup.
Rocky’s Shane Wagner scored an unassisted goal in the 30th minute and Cody Prochazka netted one off a corner kick from Nate Farmer in the 60th.
Chatfield will advance to the Sweet 16 and play Boulder on Monday. Game time has not been set.
