The Rocky Mountain girls fastpitch team won their season opener, beating host Chaparral 5-2 on Saturday.

Kaela Blumenshine went the distance for the Lobos giving up eight hits while striking out seven.

Ambrosia Rogers was 2-for-3; Courtney Robbins was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Sydney Rios was 1-for-3 with 3 RBIs for the Lobos. Rios and Meghan Read each doubled for the Lobos, who were out-hit 8-7 but were the benefactor of five Chaparral errors.

“It was a good win for us,” Rocky coach Mike Crockett said. ” Kaela kept them off balance and we got the hits when we needed them.”
