Leading 2-0 early, the Roncalli boys soccer team allowed three unanswered goals in falling 3-2 on Tuesday to visiting Gibraltar.

Roncalli took a quick lead in the seventh minute on a goal by Ben Brotz after Joel Ledvina threaded the ball inside the 18-yard box for the assist. Three minutes later Devin Veith scored off of an assist from Reed Waldhart.

Gibralter answered in the 15th minute to make it a 2-1 game – a score which held until half time.

Gibralter came out strong the second half and in the 45th and 48th minutes put two goals in to take the lead.

Roncalli (5-5, 4-5 Packerland Conference) outshot Gibralter 27-12 and had 15 corner kicks to Gibralter’s 1.

“You have to hand it to Gibralter’s tenacity….It was definitely an exasperating game for the Jets from the stand point of the number of goals that were outrageously denied,” Jets coach Donna Hodous said. “We just have to make our opportunities count more often”

Zach Berres had nine saves in goal for the Jets, who next play Sturgeon Bay on Thursday.

Green Bay East 4, Manitowoc Lincoln 2

Tied 1-1 at halftime, Lincoln allowed three second-half goals in the home loss.

East scored just two minutes into the game, but the Ships answered in the 30th minute on a goal by Ben Henry on an assist from Connor Becka.

In the second half, East scored three unanswered goals before Jacob Gottshall scored on an assist by Sam Martinez for Lincoln in the 71st minute.

Lincoln (9-3, 2-3 Fox River Classic Conference) had seven shots while Drake Nickels was in net and made six saves.

No game statistics, only a final score, were reported to the Herald Times Reporter.

Dean Waldhart had four goals to lead host Roncalli with three of them being made on assists by brother Reed Waldhart.

Reed Waldhart also notched a pair of goals and and a pair of assists on goals not scored by Dean Waldhart.

Ben Brotz added a goal for Roncalli while teammates Joe Brotz and Abraham Torres each scored their first career goals.

Zach Berres was in goal for the Jets to secure the clean sheet.
