Chris Hale rushed for two touchdowns and Ryan Jordan threw for two more to give Eagleville a 32-7 win over visiting McEwen Friday night at Talon Field.

Eagleville (1-1) recovered a short Rudy Guerra kick to open the game and scored on Hale’s 30-yard TD run.

“It was nice to get the monkey off our backs,” Eagleville coach Steve Carson said. “We played hard and better.”

Jordan, who threw for almost 200 yards, then threw a 32-yard TD pass to Andrew Jernigan and a 37-yard TD pass to D.J. Higgins, who scored on a 2-point conversion run when he snagged the bad snap on the PAT.

Guerra added a 30-yard field goal to open the second half before Hale’s 1-yard TD run ended Eagleville’s scoring.

Eagleville hosts Moore County at 7 p.m. Thursday in both teams’ first District 9-A game.

The Cougars (0-2) led 7-6 at the half and 13-12 after three quarters before the Eagles scored three touchdowns in the final period to pull away for the win.

Justin Wynn had five catches for 91 yards for MTCS, while Oakley Starling had three receptions for 51 yards. Tanner Green ran for 39 yards and a touchdown, while Brent Haufbouer completed 12 of 25 passes and scored a touchdowns.

Defensively, the Cougars were led by Chris Collins, who had eight tackles (one for a loss). Nick Barrett had seven tackles, and Bryson Hammrick had three, including sack.
