Alex Riviere scored off an assist from Greg Vajtay in the 23rd minute as the goal stood up to push the St. Joseph High School boys soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Old Bridge on Thursday in Metuchen.

Falcons (3-6) keeper Joe Bruno made 10 saves for the shutout as St. Joseph has won three straight since an 0-6 start.

Chris Botros had nine saves for Old Bridge (5-3-1).

Monroe 4, Piscataway 1: Luigi Buffolino recorded a hat trick to propel Monroe (8-1), Sean Doyle added a goal and an assist for the Falcons, who scored four unanswered. Aaron Freeman scored the only goal for Piscataway (2-6).

North Brunswick 1, South Brunswick 0: David Coffie-Owusu scored a goal to lead the Raiders (4-2-1) to the shutout over the Vikings (3-6).

Sayreville 1, Edison 0: Andrews Geker scored on a volley from 10 yards out off an assist from Johnathan Portillo with five minutes to play as Sayreville (3-3-2) handed Edison (6-2-1) its first White Division loss. Bombers goalie Andrew Leibowitz made seven saves, while Edison keeper Romit Sevani had nine saves.

Perth Amboy 3, Woodbridge 0: Kelvyn Leon scored a goal and Sergio Flores followed with two goals as Perth Amboy (2-6) beat Woodbridge (4-3-2).

J.P. Stevens 1, South Plainfield 0: Sid Hariharan scored off an assist from Antonio Nigro in the 47th minute for J.P. Stevens (5-3-1). Hawks goalie Srid Sriham made 10 saves, including stopping a penalty kick in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win. Patrick Boyle collected seven saves for the Tigers (3-3-1).

New Brunswick 5, Colonia 1: Rich Mora, Oscar Zacapala, Omar Garcia, Juan Avila and Raul Galindo all scored goals to lead New Brunswick (5-3) past Colonia (2-6-1).

Spotswood 3, Highland Park 0: Dylan Church, Fady Habib, and Hunter Padilla all netted goals for Spotswood (7-3) while Saul Marcial netted two assists. Andrew Pelham made six saves for the shutout of Highland Park (4-4-1).

Wardlaw-Hartridge 2, Middlesex 1: Andrew Dumont and Harry Osborne each netted a goal to lead Wardlaw-Hartridge (1-5-2) to its first win over Middlesex (4-5).

Perth Amboy Tech 2, Woodbridge Academy 0: Alexis Reyes and Alexander Tejada each netted goals to lead the Patriots (7-1) past the Hornets (2-5-1).

Timothy Christian 6, Piscataway Tech 0: Zach Coyle netted two goals and two assists to lead Timothy Christian (7-0-1) while four other Tiger players found the net. Piscataway Tech falls to 2-5.

South Amboy 2, Middlesex Academy 1: Segun Adeagbo and Elton Cheng each scored first half goals to lead South Amboy (5-3-1). Ruky Rupasinghe neeted a goal for Middlesex Academy (3-3-2).

A.L. Johnson 2, Rahway 1: Ben Romeo scored a goal for Rahway (3-4-1).

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 6, Linden 0: Christian Zazzali netted two goals and an assist in the Raiders’ (8-0-1) rout of Linden (2-3-1).

Girls Soccer

East Brunswick 1, Hun 1: Nicole Reisert scored the tying goal with just 2 minutes remaining as the Bears tied Hun as Reisert was able to control the ball on the right flank, and slide a well-placed shot into the far post corner. Alex Kalafor stopped 5 shots for East Brunswick.

Edison 3, Perth Amboy 0: Mackenzie Peacock, Lauren Bradley and Colleen Burke all scored goals to lead Edison (5-5) past Perth Amboy (0-8).

Piscataway 2, Monroe 0: Kelsey Nugent posted a goal and an assist and Daija Griffin added a first-half score for Piscataway (8-0-1). Erica Junquet made 13 saves for Monroe (2-7).

Carteret 8, New Brunswick 1: Giselles Perez accounted for five goals while Ciara Alston netted a goal and three assists to propel the Ramblers.

Metuchen 1, Bernards 0: Cabby Cyran struck with 7:55 left in regulation to lift Metuchen (7-0-1). Emily Corson picked up the assist for the Bulldogs, while Katie Murphy posted 13 saves to earn the shutout.

Mother Seton 5, J.F. Kennedy 1: Julianna Cornell and Kathryn Ward each netted two goals to lead Mother Seton (5-6). Crystal Carlucci made 22 saves in net for Kennedy (2-7).

Dunellen 2, Timothy Christian 1: Freshman Jackie Von Itter scored twice within the first 10 minutes and Dunellen (2-4) held on. Faith Allen scored a second-half goal for Timothy Christian (4-3).

Wardlaw-Hartridge 6, Middlesex 0: Taylor Gerhart struck twice and Mairead Forrest, Alex Garces and Valentina Margiottiello each added a goal and an assist as Wardlaw-Hartridge (8-0) rolled. Kate Soyler made nine saves and Stephanie Martinez stopped one shot for Middlesex (1-8).

South Plainfield 3, Colonia 0: Carlee Gonzalez scored two goals and Emily Skula added a goal to lead South Plainfield (2-6-1) past Colonia (3-5-1). Tigers goalie Jackie Dvorak recorded 17 saves for the shutout.

Cardinal McCarrick 5, South River 0: Megan Kosa netted two goals as Cardinal McCarrick (3-4) shutout South River (0-9).

Bridgewater-Raritan 2, Franklin 1 (OT): Allison Morgan directed home a header by Nikki Chu 56 seconds into overtime to lift Bridgewater-Raritan. Emily Sousa tied it for the Panthers (5-2-1) with four minutes left in regulation after Sam Balbierz gave Franklin (3-4) a 1-0 lead, converting a penalty kick midway through the second half.

Field Hockey

South Plainfield 3, Ridge 2: Deirdre Macchia scored the game-winning goal with 1:47 to play to lift South Plainfield (9-0) while Danielle Butrico netted the other two goals.

6, North Plainfield 0: Kylie Berko struck for a hat trick and Salonika Muhammed rallied a goal and an assist for Franklin (4-4). Brittany Leon made seven saves for the Canucks (0-7).

Girls Tennis

The Greater Middlesex Conference Tennis Tournament, originally scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, has been postponed due to the impending bad weather. The tournament will take place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Thomas Edison Park in Edison. Monday’s preliminaries start at 9 a.m., with the semifinals going Tuesday at 3:45, followed by the finals Wednesday at 3:45.
